Scouting the route north. Rode on 99 for a while to get re-hardened to cars zooming by. Of course most of 99w between Corvallis and Monmouth has a 6 to 12 foot shoulder. There is a bike path from Monmouth to Rickreall. Nothing too exciting as it just parallels the highway but good pavement without having to worry about cars. Rickreall is only 4 miles from Dallas and 24 from Kings Valley presenting the opportunity for a nice loop.
